Health-Related Support and Health Insurance
- It is a requirement of the University that all full-time students maintain health insurance coverage. As a benefit associated with your Graduate Assistantship, the University provides an opportunity to purchase subsidized medical and dental insurance under the Connecticut Partnership Plan administered by Anthem. Students must do this within 31 days of the GAship start date, which can be found in the GA offer letter. Alternatively, students may waive coverage if they have other health insurance coverage, such as by a personal insurance plan or a plan carried by their parents. International student Graduate Assistants are entitled to the reimbursement of verified repatriation insurance premiums. Further information about the Connecticut Partnership Plan can be found here: https://hr.uconn.edu/health-benefits/18
- UConn’s Student Health and Wellness can provide mental health and medical services and primary care appointments. Some services are provided at little to no charge, whereas others will incur usage charges that may be billable to your insurance.
