Seminar Title
Mechanisms underlying KCNQ2 Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy: Unraveling the paradox

September 25, 2026
Chamalka de Silva
Conover Lab
Time:12:20pm-1:10pm
Location: TLS 111
Seminar Title
Migration and topographical mapping of postnatal neuron progenitors
Synopsis
Postnatally generated neuroblasts migrate through a forebrain rostral migratory stream using a myriad of molecular interactions among which we identified specific Eph-ephrin interactions that facilitate their guided movement to the olfactory bulb. Current work is aimed at characterizing radial migration of these neuroblasts across the olfactory bulb.

October 2, 2026
Kaitlin Girardini
Kanadia Lab
Time: 12:20pm-1:10pm
Location: TLS 111
Seminar Title
The Complexity of Intron Identity Across Eukaryotic Evolution

October 9, 2026
Teng Long
Menuz Lab
Time: 12:20pm-1:10pm
Location: TLS 111
Seminar Title: Identifying the Molecular Components that Generate the Transepithelial Potential in Insect Sensilla
Synopsis
This research used the Drosophila olfactory system and single sensillum recordings to characterize the transepithelial potential (TEP) in insect sensilla and investigate its role in odor detection. Also, an RNAi screen was performed to identify candidate genes involved in TEP generation.

October 16, 2026
Michael Jolly
Mulkey Lab
Time: 12:20pm-1:10pm
Location: TLS 111
Seminar Title: Characterizing disordered breathing in a rat model of hypertension
Synopsis
This work characterizes the abnormal patterns of breathing that occur in a genetic model of hypertension and makes the case that disordered breathing is a driving force for the development of high blood pressure.

October 23, 2026
Ricardo Canela
Tzingounis Lab
Time: 12:20pm-1:10pm
Location: TLS 111
Seminar Title: Defining the Functions of the Proton–Myoinositol Cotransporter HMIT in the Mouse Brain
Synopsis
This research aims to define the specific functions of the proto-myoinositol cotransporter, HMIT, within the mouse brain. By analyzing its expression levels and interactome, this study aims to understand how HMIT regulates myoinositol transport to support essential neurological function.
